In theory, Ooberman formed back in 1988 when Andy & Steve Flett and Danny Popplewell joined forces at secondary school to form 'Forestry Comission'. However, the band 'went on hiatus' after Danny moved to Liverpool. However, they continued to keep in touch and sent each other letters and demos regularly. In 1997, Andy & Steve headed the muddy trail from Bradford to the Mersey. With the addition of Sophia Churney and Alan Kelly, Ooberman were born.

In late '98, they finally got round to releasing the limited-edition 'Sugar Bum', followed by their fantastic 'not so limited-edition' Shorley Wall EP. This got rave reviews by the press (especially Jo Whiley). Then, in later '98, they finally gave in to money and signed to Independente, home of Travis. Soon, they were flying with their album 'The Magic Treehouse'. However, things turned sour at the company after their last single (The re-released Shorley Wall) did a dramatic flop and they were cast out in April 2000.Undaunted, they returned to recording like 'in the good ol' days' and are planning on their new album release in 2001. Their new single 'Dolphin Blue' will be out in December.

As a live band, Ooberman storm the place with their big sound, and their huge live classic 'StormTrooper' (found on the end of their album.) Best served as a great slice of a Rock/Pop crossbreed. <MooseBlaster>
