The story of Soulwax, the Belgian's equivilent of, erm, well, a blend of many sounds, one which you can't describe by saying 'Oh, they sound like the Stereophonics and Rialto and early Radiohead', began 3 years ago with the release of 'Leave the Story Untold' which put themselves onto the tour map, with supports for Frank Black, Skunk Anansie, and many more.

Back in 1998, the band (on request of an L.A. radio station) co-operated with Tracey Bonham recorded the song "My Cruel Joke". It was so great that it was released as a single. It was played often, and people were anxious to find out what they would pull out of the bag next. The result was their album 'Much Against Everyone's Advice', with the roots of Belgian pop melded with American Rock. The blend of strong and powerful sound ('Much Against Everyone's Advice', 'Too Many DJ's', 'Conversation Intercom') with laid back and calm ('When Logics Die' & 'More Than This') proves that this album is strong in all respects.

Live, Soulwax are better than you'll ever hear recorded, with usually very strong support. Plus, you have the oppertunity to hear the sounds of sibling DJs The Dewaele Brothers. <MooseBlaster>
